Introducing Colton Chase Pruetz!
We are so excited to announce that we are the proud parents of a beautiful 6 lbs, 10 oz, 19 inch, baby boy named Colton Chase. He was born on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 at 4:36 in the afternoon after 27 long hours of labor. Colton was born two weeks to the day early because of my high blood pressure. I went to my routine doctor's appointment and was sent straight to the hospital because my blood pressure was 146 over 96! The doctors at the hospital thought it would be best to induce my labor to avoid an early onset of pre eclempsia. Our whole family joined us as we anticipated his arrival! My dad (Colton's grandpa) never left my side! Garrett was amazing and there for me the whole way through. He even braved watching them give me the epidural! The nurse told him to sit down afterwards and asked him if he needed some juice because his face was white as a ghost! Shortly after the epidural was administered the nurse informed me that I was 9 cm dilated and that she would be back in 1-2 hours to check on me. Well, it wasn't more than 20 minutes later that I phoned the nurse and told her I felt like I needed to start pushing. Apparently, I have a talent for pushing because I pushed him out in about 5 minutes! The nurse told me to hold on while she frantically called for the doctor. I kept saying "please let me push!" The doctor came rushing in and caught him just in the nick of time! It was then that I fell completely in love with this little baby boy. My heart melted and I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I just cried tears of joy while I held him in my arms for the first time. Garrett and I just sit there and stare at him and marvel at how incredible it feels to have him in our lives.
